About Jonathan Chew
I did not choose this work in the way one chooses a career. I came to it, and recognised it — the way you recognise something that was already true before you had words for it.
I trained first in conventional medical bioscience. What turned me was not a rejection of that training but a widening of it: the growing conviction that chronic suffering, which conventional medicine so often manages and contains, is far more reversible than most patients are ever told. That conviction has a clinical name now — nutritional and functional medicine — but I held it before I held the credentials. My formation in this field began in 2013, under the mentorship of Dato' Sri Steve Yap, and has continued across three countries since.
Jonathan Chew's training in nutritional and functional medicine spans three continents. He holds a Master of Science in Nutritional Medicine from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom — the programme established by Margaret Rayman, and the only MSc of its kind at a UK university. He completed a Professional Masters in Complementary Medicine, specialising in Nutritional Medicine, through the University Yayasan Pahang pathway in Malaysia, pioneered by Dato' Sri Steve Yap. His fellowship training in Anti-Ageing, Functional and Metabolic Medicine was completed through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) in the United States. He is Board Certified in Nutritional and Functional Medicine by the Association of Nutritional and Functional Medicine Practitioners Malaysia (ANFMPM).

Roles
Jonathan is the Founder and Chief Executive of RENN Asia Wellness, a clinical practice in nutritional and functional medicine with locations in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sibu, and Guangzhou. He is also a Senior Practitioner at DSY Wellness and Longevity Centre, where his clinical formation began in 2013 under the mentorship of Dato' Sri Steve Yap. His clinical practice and patient care are conducted through RENN Asia Wellness.
Practice locations
Kuala Lumpur (primary). Patient consultations also in Penang, Sibu, and Guangzhou.
The writing
This site exists for one reason. Most people have only ever been shown one side of the coin — one account of what medicine is, what health is, what is and is not possible for their own body. These essays are a glimpse of the other side. Not a sales pitch, not a doctrine. A glimpse of a whole world of clinical thinking that the public has rarely been given in plain terms, written so that an ordinary reader can see it clearly and decide for themselves.
